ENRICHMENT AND EXTENSION OPPORTUNITIES

COMPETITION CLUBS/ACTIVITIES:

These competitions are open to any middle school student. Some students are recruited based on their interests and abilities. These activities are terrific program extensions for G/T programming.
Current clubs include:

•Knowledge Bowl
•Geography Bee
•Speech Team
•Math Counts
•Math Masters
•Stock Market Game
Meeting pattern:

Seasonal: Each of these competitions occur at a particular time during the school year. For some competitions, students must qualify during preliminary rounds to go on in the competition.
These activities include practice, intramural competition, and limited inter-mural competition. 

SERVICE AND LEADERSHIP CLUBS/ACTIVITIES:

Service and Leadership clubs are open to any middle school student. For some of the offered activities, there is a selection process due to limited program capacity. These activities are program extensions opportunities.

•Wilderness Experience
•Green Team
•Service Learning
Meeting pattern:
Each of these activities meet throughout the school year. There is an ebb and flow to the meeting pattern based on project availability and seasonal work flows.

FINE ARTS CLUBS/ACTIVITIES:

Theater offerings are open to middle school students. For performance roles there are auditions. For technical support jobs, any student is welcome to participate. For performance music ensembles, the students must be enrolled in the related music course and audition.
Current offerings include:

•Theater Productions
•Jazz Band
•Honors Orchestra
•Wind Ensemble
Meeting pattern:

Music ensembles meet throughout the year. Some ensembles meet during the school day, in the morning, after school, and in the early evening.
Theater productions are seasonal and the commitments available are widely varied.

SPECIFIC ACADEMIC AREA CLUBS/ACTIVITIES:

Subject area clubs and activities are terrific program extensions for G/T programming. Some of the activities require a financial commitment on the part of the family.

•Washington D.C. Trip

Meeting pattern:

Each of these activities have a seasonal meeting pattern. Some of the activities culminate in one large event, while others have activity throughout the school year.

Special Interest clubs and activities are open to any middle school students. Some of these activities are terrific program extensions for G/T programming.

•Knitting with the Nurse
Meeting pattern:

Most of the special interest clubs meet periodically throughout the year. Some of the activities are seasonal.
